Q&A Quickie #4: I Have A Blue Suit And A Grey Suit – What’s Next?

Today’s Q&A Quickie is one that I failed to address in my free e-book ‘A Beginner’s Guide To The Perfect First Suit’. While I recommended buying a navy (or midnight blue) suit followed by a charcoal grey, I didn’t expand upon what to purchase after that.

Well, personally, I would suggest you buy another navy or charcoal suit. That way, you’ll be guaranteed the same great harmonization as your other suits, and it’ll effortlessly match up with your current collection of shirts and ties.

If you want to explore beyond blue and gray however, the excellent book Askmen.com Presents the Style Bible: The 11 Rules for Building a Complete and Timeless Wardrobesuggests your next logical choice should be a light-colored suit:

“Peferably, light brown or khaki, but if these colors do not complement you, go for a light gray. This is the suit that you can wear in the summer-time to dress down a formal look.”

Although I don’t necessarily agree that light brown is a universal preference, you can’t go too far wrong with khaki or light grey; both are excellent choices for light, breathable summer suits with a relaxed feel.
